Description

Description

Their penultimate 45 before the legendary "shelved" December 1961 SAR 123 45 also featuring the 17 year old Bobby Womack.

Label owner Sam Cooke, the lead singer of The Soul Stirrers, first saw Bobby and his brothers in the late 50's, signing Bobby, Cecil, Curtis , Friendly Jr., and Harry as a gospel recording group; later transforming them into a secular gathering "The Valentinos".

This rare 45 was the second to last disc credited to the Womack Brothers. As Sam Cooke's intention was to rush them towards a R&B 45 payday, "Yield Not To Temptation" and "Somebody's Wrong" two Friendly Womack creations, giving up distilled West Coast Gospel. Selling nicely into the charts in February 1962, leaving SAR # 118 and Sar #123 to be quite easily this highly collectable label's most-wanted, least-seen 45s.

Obviously Bobby's participation adds so much more kudos to the disc.

Two discs that rarely ever turn up for sale, underlined by, at present no availability on the "web"t

Act accordingly, two great songs marking the "Brother's" first steps into Soul / R&B for the Womacks - it was an unparalleled Soul music milestone!

Condition Report

Two perfectly clean labels, free of flaws other than soft storage wear signs from the last 63 years. A true mint minus vinyl reveals only the occasional soft surface blemish or two, as you can hear it emits flawless playback. A beauty!
