Is there more influential intro to a 60's dance recording than this?
It's pumping bass-line, haunting-horns, tubular bells set the scene for some exhilarating Northern Soul dancing. An intro that would be repeated two more times through the song, as the crescendo is met again by the returning compelling bass-line, signalling ghostly horns to levitate above and those insporing bells to ring out.. those unforgettable breaks would soon inspire testosterone fuelled dance-floor synchronization, as back drops, spins and hand-claps "Mexican-waved" through the NS throng.

For onlookers, it was an awesome like-minded routine of Soul Boy camaraderie, taken home in your head, to be set into those solitary bedroom dance-step practice sessions. At the bigger clubs, Wigan Casino etc the ritual became competitive as the desire for the longest spin, highest backdrop, the loudest hand-clap sparked friendly combat between those vested Adonis's, with glistening sweated bodies. Some of the extravagant spins, even had the "wet-dog" effect as perspiration sprayed out from the performers foreheads and hair. "I'm Gonna Change" demanded exaggeration in your dance performance, your wide-arm handclaps were fully stretched arms coming down from aloft with an almighty thwack! all timed to perfection, Northern Soul dressage at its most

Not many records had the power to ignite such floor-euphoria, or indeed such disappointment as a collector, if you got fooled into buying a counterfeit promo, as many collectors did and still do...

Be assure this beautiful promo is 100% authentic first press, a real deal Northern Soul classic in fine clean condition...

A classic still saturated in the ability to send old-timers into a spin... even though those now yellowing, outgrown vests have long been discarded.

Do do not overlook the flipside "Don't Pity Me" is now picking up Northern Soul turntable time also... and is eclipsing the classic side in some clubs.. we expect a price hike on this rarity, especially with it's new lease of life for the flip.
