Description

Description

1968 Lee Scratch Perry "8 For 8" one side, with the bonus of The Inspirations ( Billy Dyce & Jimmy London) on the flipside.

We lead with the manic shrieking keyboard instrumental, peppered with Lee Perry "Hammer House Of Horror" rapping. Typically inventive "Scratch" production, that becomes an earworm for the day.

The flipside is a hidden gem, an uplifting duet with two vocals bouncing of each other enthusiasm. With a clever addition of a distant echoing chorus. It's the deliberately primitive arrangement that lifts this session up and beyond. All components seamlessly complimenting each other, in this catchy dance production.

Two cool sides, one very elusive 1968 blank.

Condition Report

rubberstamped UPSETTER RECORDS i.d. on The Inspirations side. Handwritten 8 for 8 on the other sides, with a mistakenly redacted "You Know What I Mean" vinyl reveals multiple soft scuffing, but plays without fault, occasion soft ticks and pops (listen)
