Description

Long gone are the days when we had a handful of this this title in the late 70's. We were at the time singing its praises, of this hugely engaging double-offering of this vocal-group mid-tempo excellence. But back thenm the dancefloor potential was limited as this style of production was not in vogue. But for today's wortkldwide sccene it ticks all the boxes amnd more.

A New York creation, the foundation for the same guys who moved on to record with Gene Redd on Red Coach, where they also proved to be masters of the soulful vocal-group harmony genre.

The original A-side is a beseeching plea filled floater with the lead voice trying to convince himself that his girl's threat to leave him will never happen. He desperately lists all the reasons why she should stand by him, with his teammates affirming all his reasoning with glorious heavenly choruses... as his chauvinist reasoning be backs up with a hopeful "I Betcha". We never find out whether his risky tactic pays off and she stays.. but after absorbing yourself in this entrancing 3 minutes of vocal group brilliance, you'll be thinking surely wooing her with this calibre sing, she'll be staying home waiting for here man.

Flip it over and the Universal Minds raise the bar of soulful dance, with the absolute killer "A Chance At Love". Sit tight and be prepared to be captivated by an imploring lead vocal cradled sweet masculine harmonies as they become entangle in a tour-de-force of relentlessly stabbing horns and aerial girl-group choruses flying high above. The combination woven into insistent dance pulses provides perfect dancefloor fuel for the masses. As is being steadily proved before, through and after lockdown.

This record's "time" is NOW no matter which side you drop the arm on. ,
