Although today this 45 is considered an all-time Soul Club, Youth Club and school dance classic, in the early part of August 1968 this UK release past by and deleted without so much as a ripple of interest except from the super-alert DJ's of the Twisted Wheel, King Mojo, Nite Owl, The Brit etc. where it blossomed to become a dancefloor favourite.

Before you today is the seldom seen FIRST PRESS green & white demo of this Northern Soul anthem.

When it rose to "NS cult" status EMI subsequently reissued it in 1970 on the same release number. The 1968 original stock copy of course brandished the "Sold in the U.K. subject to.." text across the centerpiece. The 1970 presses carries the 1968 date on the label but no "Sold in the U.K." text on the centerpiece. The 1970 DJ copy does not carry the 16.8.68 date on the green & white centerpiece. This 16th. of August 1968 release as a DEMO is a timeless classic in by far it's rarest form.

Click the soundfile to be catapulted back in time, an emotional journey back to the Youth Club in 1970 where this was a number one tune. Or if you were really "hip" and went to The Twisted Wheel, Mojo, Nite Owl etc. the soundfile will migrate you into a bygone age of 1968 when everything was fresh exciting and lead vocal-tones like Charles Pope already an icon with "Hey Girl Don't Bother Me" stayed with you forever..

Part of our Northern Soul apprenticeship, offered here is a very desirable rarely seen format.
