Whilst some Northern Soul anthems can crate on the mind, a little when they become over-exposed to the public demands of Mr. DJ can you play ?

Personally I think it's would be hard to tire of this one..

As New York masterpiece that has tested the vocal chords of Dusty Springfield for us Brits and Susan Barrett in the USA .. is it the bass-line line intro that pulls you in, or the trembling emotion both girls emit when conveying Jerry Ragovoy's & Mort Shuman's lyric. Beseechingly haunted no matter who the vocalist your listening to. Personally I'm a huge "Dusty" fanatic, bjt I've neer felt it necessary to compare the two versions because I love them both.

The "Dusty" take is a littk,e more "Silky" & "Rounded", whilst my mood today cries out for a edgier take, which the original Susan Barrett take certainly is. The skill of RCA producer Paul Robinson incorporates male backing on the choruses, blaring brass, twangy bass guitars. The instrumental break is truly spine-tingling..

No I don't think I could ever tire of either version... after all it is RCA NORTHERN SOUL perfect once again..
