Description

Description

For over 40 years, perched and waiting for it’s moment in the sun. A record underlining the DJ possibilities, whilst seeking out the superior rare and underplayed Northern Soul contenders.

Slick Baltimore vocal group Northern that has bubbled under the public radar for over 4 decades without exploding into the dancefloor favourite, it must surely become; when more than one NS jock champions this winner at the same time.

The perfect example of a superior rarity, that has been denied to the majority of the all-nighter dance-crowd for one reason only. A reason that sadly befalls too many truly great records... Not enough copies have ever been available to supply the Northern Soul DJ’s to simultaneously give it that essential coordinated push towards NS stardom.

So take a listen to another class-act from Joe Tate and team. As beseeching male Soulful harmony is woven into a sympathetic subtle horn driven dance production.

Opening up with an impressive bass-vocal spoken intro, igniting into a fabulous mid-paced dance track as the lead voice changes. The new lead guy gives up an imploring performance, his voice suitably “cracks” as his lyrics of lost-love unfold.

This is real-deal SOUL with no attempt at being commercial, a recording aimed directly at the neighborhood The Summits sung in.. a truly standout dancer that must surely break though big.. at some point in Northern Soul’s history.

Condition Report

Two clean labels, vinyl reveals multiple fine hairlines under direct light, none of which transfer to the stylus. It plays superb, listen and prepare to be bewitched.
