Description

Description

Radio Caroline copy - signed by station DJ Paul Rusling, neat small file number on a-side promo label.

"Alright Now " is arguably the most impressive track from his sought after 11 track 1971 UK album "Short Stories" written by Gibbons himself.

Strong Prog Rock fired up my Gimger Johnson African "Conga" pulses and JImmy Miller's assistance; all soon benefitting from the potent Soul vocals of Doris Troy & Madeline Bell providing the Sister choruses in the "Alright Now" backing. Guitar rhythms drive this cocktail of Psyche flavoured with Gospel sprinklings forward. Embellished with and strong rock guitar solo interludes from Albert Lee. Steve Gibbons impressive vocal fits snugly into the driving arrangement.

A haunting and obscure Prog Rock session on this highly attractive but short lived psychedelic label-design and sleeve-art statement from the first year of the 70's decade.

Not only a very attractively presented 45 it is almost musically excellent featuring some "names" of renown appearing in its creation. Not overlooking the added bonus of the flipside "Lay Some Lovin' Down" not appearing on the album, but showcasing Steve Gibbons accomplished Harmonica skills.
