Description

Description

One of the predominant rarities in that challenging quest of locating British Tamla Motown 45's releases.

The May 1961 USA release that launched Harvey Fuqua's Tri-Phi label, picked up by British Columbia for release 25th. August 1961 for The Spinners debut singe, written by Harvey Fuqua and Gwen Gordy. In typical British label inability to follow label crediting details. UK Columbia erroneously credited Bobby Smith as the a-side co-writer and them inexplicably lengthened the original USA title from "That's What Girls Are Made Of" to "That's What Little Girls Are Made Of". The flipside crediting was correct with Spinners lead singer Bobby Smith joining Harvey Fuqua to create "Heebie Jeebies"

It was inevitable, after Harvey/Anna/Gwen sold "Anna" records to Motown, with his wife Gwen Gordy (Berry's Sister) that Harvey Fuqua would become a value high input contributor at Motown taking the Spinners, Junior Walker, Shorty Long, Johnny Bristol.

Before you today is a very rare British demo single saturated in the historical beginnings of Motown and the burgeoning Detroit soul scene.

Utterly essential for TMG completist in the knowledge this could be the foinest copy you'll most likely see
