CONDITION! CONDITION! CONDITION!

One of the most-wanted least-seen of all the first TMG 500 series of British Tamla Motown 45's, the much-loved Northern Soul Motown classic "Sweet Thing" with a almost as impressive flipside "How Can I"

Here is a fine clean copy of the seldom seen 1965 store release, that EMI blindly credited as "The Spinners" ignoring the fact, that there was already a UK group called "The Spinners" doing rather well in the British Isles releasing 45s & Albums on Fontana; a popular and well know folk group who were regularly on the TV and placed high in the charts. Many feel the release and sales of TMG 514 suffered from the fact "The Spinners" were a folk group and Friday release sheet scanners will have passed over the release, first time round, those release-sheet scrutinisers specifically searching for "soul" music.

An EMI oversight that happened again 9 releases later on TMG 523 with "I'll Always Love You"; now whether EMI decided a belated name change would benefit sales, or whether it was, as the preferred story suggests, that Philips Phonograph objected to the name clash of another "Spinners" perhaps hitting the charts, and asked for some other name for the Motown group to avoid confusion.

EMI withdrew TMG 523 as "The Spinners" and hastily re-launched it as The Detroit Spinners. Did they receive a polite reminder from Philips Phonograph? That is unclear but the name The Detroit Spinners was born, a christening the group carried with them when they signed for Atlantic Records.

Before you today is the frustratingly rare TMG 514, the Spinners very first UK Tamla Motown TMG release presented here in highly desirable immaculate condition. The vinyl carries strong gloss and plays perfect, listen to the mint minus soundfile. Two unblemished labels still housed in its 514 birth sleeve. A spectacular copy of The Spinners first and finest TMG. Total Northern Soul classic, + giving up a flipside that is almost as impressive.

If your priority whilst collecting the rare TMG's, is owning the very rarest Tamla Motown, this is it in near unbeatable condition!

...do not pass by we don't expect to see anther copy any time soon.
