Once again we have the increasingly rare opportunity to laud the genius of Leonard Jewel Smith, a gifted independent Los Angeles artist / producer who's consistency for creating exceptional small label Northern Soul dance recordings, will never be eclipsed.

This 1970 Lenard Jewel Smith and Godoy Colbert collaboration for his NS revered "Delanieur" publishing, and the coveted "Teri De" label. Number 007 in the series, is distilled "Soul-Class" which ever side you drop the arm on. To be fair, the equally fabulous flipside with Sonny "The Phantom" Craver's on a San Diego session partnered by Chicago schooled master-producer/writer Otha Hayes. A glorious Northern Soul dancer. The ideal pace for the dancer Sonny's vocal surrounded with vibes, strings, soaring horns, shrill girls, a fabulous flute break make for a racing journey into Southern California Northern Soul that seamlessly carries you from one peak to another. Another top-drawer Northern Soul dancer, presented on one of the world's most-sought after record labels.

The flip "I Wanna Thank You" showcases Sonny's creamy purring voice overflowing with gratitude for his girls sweet love. "Jewel" again reveals his gifts for the prodigious production. A sumptuous unobtrusive arrangement incorporating aerial horns, plucking guitar, soaring male vocal choruses enriching every moment with timely adornment of Sonny's consummate voice.

Two fabulous sides, as are all Lenard Jewel Smith's creations utilizing Los Angeles's rich vein street-soul talent.
