Description

The rare original first press, in staggeringly clean condition!

Another superior Detroit creation of Northern Soul from the talented but unsung producer Roger Bass. Remember his Gwen Owens "Just Say Your Wanted (And Needed)" or The Utopias - "Girls Are Against Me" this is his other standout production, again offering up vibrant Northern Soul, a cut above the rest.

One of the reasons I was prompted to list this 45, was after recently hearing it in an imaginative oldies set. To be honest I'd forgotten hoe deliciously-Detroit is was. Tantalizing echo effect, gives the session a mysterious "dream-like" atmosphere as the lead songbird deliver the convincing lyrics. Her teammates relentless in their support with shrill choruses ring though. The moments towards the ending as she holds the word "lost" is truly spectacular. But you have to mention the jangling backtrack, that just epitomises every Detroit.

To hear the backing track and the full effect of the backing singers, just flip it over. The b-side although the lead vocal has been removed, it is still a addictive serving of Northern Soul..

Both side are brilliant, a classic that deserves more turntable time, it certainly pricked up my ears, and filled a the dancefloor.

How refreshing when a DJ looks past the obvious.
