There was no man better at fuses New York Latino rhythms into a Big City Sound Soul production than Bert Russell Berns, who's moniker was often abbreviated to Bert Russel. A name that appears on more Northern Soul appreciated East Coast productions. During his short life of mere 38 years; Bert assembled an unrivaled body of work, with some of New York's greatest Soul artists of the era.

So when you the great Bert Berns pulls in the colossal vocal presence of Roy Hamilton, to croon through his so typically "Brill Building" production, the results is stunning; not once but TWICE.

"You Can Count On Me" borrows from "Stand By Me" in pace and the ear-catching Steel Brush Merengue punctuating rich low-blows of Trombone, as a scything girl chorus takes to the air. Whilst that booming "Hamilton" vocal overrides all studio happenings, to deliver his message of solidarity. This side has long been a Northern Soul standard that has received only cursory turntable exposure..

Today it's the previously neglected flipside "She Make Me Wanna Dance" that is receiving all the attention. It's Latin rhythms hitting the current Northern Soul dancefloor requisite perfectly as "Latin" flavours becomes of major part of a NS DJ's set.
This time the pace lifts, as those rattling Latin pulses hit the room. Squealing girls, a snarling tone to Roy's delivery, resounding Cow-Bells Bongos, Latino trumpet solo's

So absolutely right for today's dancefloor.. a proven crowd--pleaser so had to acquire in near Manship-Mint condition
