After being locally "discovered" by Lynn Taitt, she was introduced to Duke Reid and the Treasure Isle label where Phillis Dillon cut the legendary "Don't Stay Away", her first 45.

From the lady who gave us a wonderful take on Bettye Swann's "Make Me Yours", here is one of the very sought-after Doctor Bird's from the beautiful soulful voice of Ms. Dillon.

A Duke Reid production, of Phillis's own composition, drawing from her love of soul, she glides through this uplifting Rock Steady stepper, superbly orchestrated with the easy-going backdrop prompted by subtle saxophone notes and a melodica break. A mesmeric Rock Steady floater of extreme quality. That will I'm sure draw keen interest from the Soul fraternity as well as dedicated Reggae harvesters.

A truly addictive tune reminding the listener why so many seek ownership.

The flipside by Tommy McCook and The Supersonics is a deconstruction of a classic Gilbert Bécaud love theme, with interjections of extreme trumpet musicianship. Rather cool, I think.

Listen to the fine clean, squeaky-clean vinyl that plays without a murmur, stand out playback.

Condition Report

Tiny writing on a-side label " If You Knew" , original push-out 3 prong has been removed. Vinyl shows off fully gloss vinyl, but covered with multiple fine hairlines, as you can hear it plays crisp, loud and clean.
