Rarest Of The Rare Detroit in just the finest condition.

A sumptuous Motor City twist on the Marlina Mars 1965 Bert "Superhits" DeCocteaux's New York project. Ernstrat enlist the talents of Mike Theodore & Fred Saxon, elevating an already superb song into the realms of Northern Soul greatness.

From those embryonic Northern Soul nights of "The Torch" "The Cats" this superior NS girl dances, had a hold on the Northern Soul psyche. The Blackpool Mecca, later Wigan Casino rocked to it's instantaneous intro that demanded a dancefloor reaction. Patti's "Nella Dodds" style innocence is carried along on a wave of crashing cymbals, squealing Sister choruses, rattling drums rhythms and subtly restrained "Mike Terry-style" saxophone prompts that pepper the backing;
The Sax-Man can be shackled no longer, as the interlude explodes into a momentous bombardment of Saxophone prowess! As he starts with a classic style break, but soon taking on "Bari-Track" characteristics bellowing out one of Detroits most memorable saxophone intrusions. It became so sought after the in-famous "International Soul Club" bootlegged it on the now collectable "Out-Of-The-Past" series.

Bert DeCocteaux & Clyde Otis were surely very talented writers and producers but they didn't inject the power of the saxophonist or indeed the vibrant band that Patti's version is blessed with.

This record has been registered on the super-elusive NS radar, for over 45 years with no sign of it getting any easier to add to your collection. So when near perfectness presents itself.. do not pass by.

Over the years I've grown to really like the war-cry song "The Valiant" kind on the flipside which also gives up a saxophone performance to take notice of...

TUNE!!! which ever side you drop the arm on
