Description

Description

You are viewing one of the very rarest British only Northern Soul offerings.

I say Northern rather than MOD because it is saturated in everything MOD, but it was first introduced to the NS masses by intrepid DJ Guy Hennigan at the "Top Of The word" Allnighter at Stafford, imaginatively covered-up as Rock Robinson - Eve of Destruction -. Over the years that followed the "Paradox-torch" was carried by such DJ luminaires as Carl Fortnum, etc. During all this time remaining hideously rare throughout, even though it has been for decades, at the forefront of ever Brit crate-digger every time he ventures out in the wild.

A cocktail of honking horns, fuzz guitar, cymbals, vibes, saxophone and the kitchen-sink. The writer Peter Lee Stirling had a reputation for lively racing productions from his early work with his group The Bruisers. He applies the same level of energy in this off-the-wall instrumental that instantly smacks you in the face with the agitated Fuzz guitar intro. .

A recording that has over the years has split perhaps NS opinions, certainly not a traditional style Northern Soul instrumental; but for me and many others, it shimmers with big-bollock, uncompromising no holds barred, straight for the jugular dancefloor enjoyment. Especially for the MODS where opinion isn't split at all.

Seriously elusive in this fabulous condition, but there's more...

In recent times the flipside "Wednesday's Theme" slowed a tad and played at 43 rpm, gives up a snarling Latin dancer, Ray Barretto would have been proud to put his name to. Making this beyond rare 45, a two for the price of must-have, I can certainly see "Wednesday's Theme" rising up to become just as wanted as "Ring The Changes" with the right DJ.

Find another in this supreme condition is you can! In fact find a copy in any condition...elusive in he extreme.
