Description

Description

The same Bay Area boys who recorded as The Lovers on Frantic, Gate and Philips, as The Emotions on Vardan, later popping up on the highly regarded Willie Hoskins Oakland label Boola-Boola.

A supremely accomplished male harmony quartet with James Gregory second tenor; Daniel Sanders tenor; Robert Coleman baritone; and Melvin Williams bass/baritone. With James Gregory and Daniel Sanders composing both sides, the group travelling south to Los Angeles to be guided by two doyens of the studio Jimmy Holiday & Rene Hall. The result was two spectacularly soulful sides, one an "in-vogue" stylish Northern Soul dancer. With the flip giving up a splendid "Lowrider" treasure with hovering horn cradling heavenly harmonies strolling into your space, truly mood changing.

"I'm Gonna Make It" is growing in stature on the back of the rare and under played NS movement, breaking into the main-rooms. Still many, many miles to go with this soaring dancer. That ticks all the Northern Soul boxes for much bigger things.

Two superior sides that have "snoozed" for too long.
