Mousie and The Traps the girl group tro who backed James Holvay's blue-eyed Chicago Soul band phenomenon. With their solitary 45 on the sought-after Toddin Town label
Headed up by Genevieve “Mousie” Hernandez, r.i.p., her sister Susan Hernandez and best friend Thelma Flores.

Genevieve and sister Susan along with Thelma Flores made their club debuts in 1964. Wherever they went, earning a reputation for worthy mimickers of the "Supremes" sound. They were christened with a M.C. ad-lib as the alighted the stage in a Chicago club, announced as "Mousie And The Traps. The manager thought the name, quirky so it stuck., their chosen stage-name was the "Mystic Styles".

The name stuck when they were offered a gig with "The Mob", James Holvay wrote two songs them, both relentless pounding Northern Soul stompers with the "Mob" providing the relentless instrumental backing track. The 3 teenagers were releasing their one and only single. That failed to sell, but provided the Northern Soul scene with a completely rare - that would stand the test of time. Never ever turning in any quantity to give the unilateral larger than the odd solitary copy.

Both sides written & produced by the MOB leader Jim Holvay and arranged by Gary Beisbier. Both sides proper foot-to-the-floor Chicago Northern Soul!

Very hard to acquire!




Condition Report

Two clean Yellow labels, full gloss near mint minus vinyl, only reveals occasional soft hairlines under light. Both sides play bold and clean (listen)
