Very elusive double helping of Minneapolis, Minnesota 1965 Garage. From one of the "Twin Cities" most popular 60's bands. The foundations for the 7 man gathering from St. Paul who recorded that killer Northern Soul version of the Nova's Nine "Pain" for local Charlie Records that apparently the group knew nothing about the indie label release, that later surfaced when Metromedia released it.

Personnel fluctuated between 5 - 7 band members, on this their very first 45 release featured Mike Stokes - lead vocal & guitar, brother Butch Stokes - Organ, Greg Hartman - Saxophone, Rich Walker - Bass, David Steineck - Percussion.

Heavy guitar pulses introduced the brooding Mike Stokes vocal, driven by relentless Stieneck drumming and Rick Walker bass rhythm. A killer guitar solo partitions the session, before those despondent vocals dift back in. Raw, convincing you boy rejection cascades from the grooves of this rare disc.

Flip it over for the impressive "Hi Bird" with Mike's brother "Butch" potent organ manipulation, providing the undercurrent, along with unrelenting "Steineck" drumming that drives another b-side that is arguably more rawer and better than the a-side.

Anyhow two great Garage tunes on one disc from the streets of the Twin Cities where this young band enjoyed a huge club-following.
