The Soul Queen of New York, with one of her best loved recordings, in by far and away its least seen format. A flawless mint minus 1964 UK Demo!

This most gorgeous songs, written by that incomparable writing partnership of Carol King and Gerry Goffin, elevated by a lush string-powered Bert Keyes arrangement. produced by the prolific Stanley Greenberg, the name "Stan Green" appearing on so many of those consummate Wand Soul recordings.

This King / Goffin masterpiece was to be recorded by a huge range of artists from all over the globe including Aretha Franklin, Manfred Mann, Cher, Dionne Warwick, Merry Clayton and many more, but none of them get even close to replicating this soaring glide towards Soul Heaven that Maxine's reassured voice portrays; bolstered by the affirmation of her boyfriend buying her a ring.

This is 60's Soul story-telling at it most vivid, painting a picture of a young girls rumor driven fears suddenly lifted as her guy comes through, exactly like she so hoped he would.

Maxine is so tender, so hopeful and so loyal, she is rewarded as you can hear her unbroken heart coming back to life, as deliverance is embedded every syllable of her young joy; what could be better than proving all your friends wrong.
"Oh No Not My Baby" is one of the all-time great Soul girl moments of the 60's... delivered by a R&B Princess soon to be crowned The Queen of New York Soul.

the flipside "You Upset My Soul " is a meaty Sister Northern Soul statement written by Reggie Albrecht and William Drain, produced by the might of Ludix productions, another New York Luther Dixon gem.

This truly magnificent song present before you as the 13th. November Pye International promo make a few old-school collectors hearts flutter...
