First surfacing as an LP track on Marcia's "Marcia Shines" album. This Teddy Randazzo & Victoria Pike composition became firm 70's dance lovers favourite. I was delighted to scoop up some copies on my first ever trip to Australia, in thge mid-90's. "I gotta let go" was becoming a huge tune..

I also remember the rumors of a 45 existing, then to great excitement across the scene, a 7" turned up, the value of the album plummeted and the chase for the coveted ownership of the louder, deeper 45 cut, was full on.

But no-one could have imagined just how scarce the original 7" was gonna prove to be.

A highly elusive top-want for all 7" orientated Rare Soul DJ's, a highly prized collectors 45 for several decades now. A fabulous uncomplicated 70's Northern Soul dancer, that Teddy Randazzo & Victoria Pike never seemed to utilize themselves; We can find no evidence at the moment of a Teddy / Victoria session in the USA, no other version of "You Gotta Let Go". A great choice from label owner Robie G. Porter to produce this one; but surprisingly failed to receive airplay or sell, even though her album "Marcia Shines" put Marcia into the Australian public's eye just the year before.

A rare sought-after 45, sewn into the curious tapestry of rare Northern Soul 45's from around the world.

Condition Report

discreet soft name in ballpoint on a-side label, see images. Otherwise two clean labels, full gloss vinyl, plays crisp loud and clean, giving up, only the occasional soft tick that is hardly noticeable.
