Another really rare disc for the R&B Jump Blues DJ's to ponder over.

We notice that irrepressible international DJ Fonsoul Bcn has been championing this for a couple of years, with nobody seemingly challenging his exclusivity, having himself won the only copy to ever appear on popsike..

Although this "vinyl-unicorn" is not in our usual impeccable condition for listings on these pages; the sheer weight of its rarity comes down on the side of ownership first, then the unenviable task of locating an upgrade, with which we wish you luck.

"Little Johnny" composed the a-side himself, we are veering towards thinking this artist is the same Johnny Allen, as the creator of "The Theme from Shaft" and Motown "Big Wheel of creativity". As that Johnny Allen was an highly accomplished pianist, and this 1956 session brandishes a rather nimble piano break in the middle. A potent Black Rocker that was probably never issued by dart-playing Englishman Woody Hinderling owner of New York based "Bullseye" label. Woody would pull in recordings countrywide, so Detroit resident Johnny Allen could easily got this into the local New York market.

Any info unveiling who the "Bullseye" "Jimmy Allen" really is, would be most welcome on this very mysterious disc. What is no mystery though, is that this tune thumps out R&B dance by the truckload, with the flipside is nearly as good; it offer two huge slices of R&B that is currently the preserve of one of Europe's most inventive DJ's.

Condition Report

Two promo labels carry mild storage browning two faded red X's, see images. The vinyl has multiple light surface hairlines, nothing deep or clicky. Visually vg but plays a grade better (listen)
