Description

NOTE: If anyone ever lists or tries to sell you an off-white plain labelled copy as a "test press" of Little Eddie Taylor . Avoid at all costs, it is a mid-seventies British commissioned New York BOOTLEG pressed in the same the same batch of 45s as The Silhouettes - Not Me Baby - "test press" and the "Subway Riders" "After The Session" "test press". All three I've witnessed copies falsely presented to be sold as originals, usually accompanied with an elaborate story of being found in the USA and sold by a dealer of honest repute, way back in 1976.

No experienced soul record dealer would ever pass the three aforementioned off as authentic original plain label test presses, over the decades now most are adorned with "planted" handwritten credits, no doubt. All the above 3 originals have "multi-coloured" attractively designed labels; back in the 70s carrying more expensive printing costs, consequently much more difficult to convincingly replicate, plain labels a result of a cost cutting exercise, apathy, or no access to the original label artwork. Only the bootleg boys could tell youu the real reason.

Before you today is the uber-elusive June 1967 authentic original, so rarely seen for sale and giving up two absolute Texas soul-killers

One of Soul's label's most distinctive label designs, label-art at its most attractive, everything on Peacock is held in high-regard and super desirable

"I Had A Good Time" is a proper brass loaded NS stomper, a simultaneous Casino & Cleethorpes Pier monster; another slab of Texas trinitrotoluene from the pen of label owner Dedric Malone (Don Robey) & saxophonist Gilbert Caple (schooled by Willie Mitchell in the art of delivering jam-packed juggernaut horns) which Little Eddie seamlessly hitches himself to... creating dynamic pulse-racing Northern Soul.

Do not overlook the flipside, a scarce opportunity to be blown-away by Little Eddie's beseeching voice, a real joy to hear, him pleading for forgiveness on "Forgive One Mistake" a long celebrated Deep Soul masterpiece.

Many years ago I discovered a tiny artist promo photograph of "Eddie" with a caption announcing "Wee Eddie Taylor 2 3/4 feet tall packed with dynamite (song and dance man) !" Allegedly, explosive on stage, and a popular "ladies man" off it.

A rare 45 indeed, our first copy for over 7 years, what a pleasure to hear "Little Eddie's" evocative soulfulness once again...
