Description

Description

A UK collectors jewel an Ace/Kent test press, born from the treasure trove of recordings discovered in Dave Hamilton vaults, surfacing as first as unissued, neglected tapes and acetates. This track written by Ann Bridgeforth (Little Ann) and Rony Darrell, wasdue for a "Topper" release that never materialised.

Later to become the crown-jewel on the compilation "Dave Hamilton's Detroit Dancers Vol 2" on Kent Records and of course her previously unissued and now highly acclaimed albums both featuring this mighty slab of "Sister" Detroit Northern Soul dance. Little Ann's soulful gifts were now fully exposed.

"Who Are You Trying To Fool" underlines the not only her under-valued vocal capabilities, it also reveales the jaw-dropping writing, arranging, producing talent of Jazz/Soul man Dave Hamilton; yet another Motor City prodigy who's extreme abilities were not recognised at the time creating his very best soul work.

Before you today is a British collectors dream 45, the original 1999 Ace/Kent 7" "test press" pre-production unique press, surfacing for sale.

Listen and allow the diminutive figure, with the gigantic voice, Ann Bridgeforth will knock you off your feet one more time... those fortunate enough to witness her live at Cleethorpes Weekender shortly before her death got an insight into a hugely gifted Diva who for the most of her life spent 9 feet from fame.
