Description

Description

A thing of beauty! That presents a dilemma of which side to lead with first.

Here is a gorgeous blue & yellow stock copy on the iconic Blue Cat constructed by Linda's three mentors that guided her to Soul Diva" immortality! Especially among Soul scholars across the globe, who dug deeper than the obviousness of Aretha, Mary Wells, Dee Dee Warwick, Baby Washington, Etta James, Maxine Brown etc.

Linda's vocal delivery was uniquely passionate, presented with a calm confident emotion and almighty power! Linda Jones, the voice that transformed so many passive Soul fans into, rabid mad-for-more Soul collectors, when they first encountered this sovereign of soul, a true Diva who many consider the greatest sister voice of all time.

Linda was discovered singing in a local club by Jerry Harris, after this failed Blue Cat 45, her third unsuccessful 45 release. George Kerr introduced her to Warner Brothers where she blossomed through the Loma label, releasing six highly prized 45s and just a solitary but celebrated album between 1967 and 1968.

Between Gerald Harris and George Kerr (aligned with Motown in their formative years) with the mighty Robert Banks adding extra "muscle" to the productions. Linda seemed set for a glittering career, before crossing the Hudson in 1969, releasing two 45s on the Philly based "Neptune" label before settling down to join Sylvia Robinson 's burgeoning "All Platinum" empire.

Sadly this Queen of Soul never achieved her full potential, she passed away due to complications with diabetes. Linda sadly died at the tender age of 27 years. The soul music community were bereaved of an artist who surely would have been heralded worldwide has her singing talent for delivering real-deal soul like nobody else could.

This gorgeous Blue Cat 45 delivers not only a bewitching vinyl-vista, it also serves up a mesmeric double Northern Soul delight. "You Hit Me Like T.N.T." personifies, stomping utterly merciless Northern Soul. A floor-destroyer, delivered with the richest sister vocal you could ever wish to experience.

Swirling keyboard pulses, showered with inspiring "Robert Banks" vibes, thumping percussion, all harnessed by Linda's juggernaut vocal. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL a classic style "take no prisoners!" stomper, as she announces to the world a new man has just blown her away!

Flip it over and pianist Robert Banks throws away the "Soul-Girl" rulebook, as he marries up a dynamic production to equal Linda's unbridled power. The style she was later to score a hit with "Hypnotised"

This is LINDA AT HER BEST before the world really got to know her through those "LOMA" sessions... this is distilled, unadulterated Lady-SOUL and her rarest most desirable 45. That delivers twice over...

Condition Report

two bight clean, dazzling labels, not a hint of storage, strong clean gloss on vinyl, reveals jus a few soft surface blemishes when angled under direct light. Playb ack is flawless (listen)
