A popular big spin for Alan Handscombe, at the famous Mousetrap Allnighter. Presented here in irresistible clean condition, this November 1965 British promo, is in near perfect state.

Whilst historians of 60's rock, will herald this 45 as the beginnings of the Levon Helm and Ronnie Hawkin's former backing group "The Hawks" that rocked Woodstock in 1967, later changing their name to "The Band". Recruited as Bob Dylan's touring band, proves to be an important piece in the jigsaw of Dylan history.

But from a collecting viewpoint it is the flipside "He Don't Love You" that holds the most interest and value as a Northern Soul current play that is gathering more and more followers. Written by talent guitarist Jaime Robertson Canadian "Hall Of Famer" and Dylan's original lone target for his band. "Robbie" Robertson is also a standout lyricist, as you will hear throughout this potent slab of piano peppered NS stomper. As he warns his girl of impending heartbreak and doom.

After hiding away on a flipside for decades, at last this amazing NS dance backing track is taking hold; Levon Helm smashing out destructive percussion, booming bassline, showered with punched out piano notes, embellished with the highpoint of the recording those searing echoing male choruses, encourage the snarling lead vocal. A truly brilliant production of relentless power and drive. No wonder then, at last this has captured the attention of more than one NS DJ., so expect this song to rapidly rise through the play lists, as the dancefloor reacts to this memorable dynamic production.

A Northern Soul tune on the rise, presented here in its rarest and most perfect format!

From humble beginnings Jaime Robertson rose up to become a celebrated Canadian musician; as did Levon Helm. But for me this is the pairs finest work.. killer Northern Soul emerging from a flipside on the glorious British Demo!

Condition Report

a near flawless promo copy! Four prong centre intact, two bright yellow demo labels. Flipside label shows the infamous Decca rubber-stamping of the running time 200 the 2 minute indicator for the radio DJ. The vinyl is a full gloss, with only the faint sleeve storage hairline visible when angled in the light. As clean as you could dream of, with perfect playback! Still housed in its wavy top, waxy birth-sleeve.
