Again Leon Gardner calls up the accomplished Arthur Monday to guide his latest compositions on his sought after "Igloo" imprint. The Gardner & Monday collaborations were responsible for some of Deep Funk's most sought-after treasures.

On this 1967 L.A. creation Leon grinds his way through two gritty mid-tempo Northern Soul cruisers, stimulated with hard-blown horns.

We lead with the moody Popcorn flavoured haunted stepper; piano & guitar fuse into an inviting dance backdrop, a landscape stiffened by hanging horns evolving into a threatening spooky atmosphere, that creeps under your skin, with Gardner & Monday resisting any lure to quicken the pace. They knew exactly the end product they were seeking, street-level sullenness brought about by his girl not caring anymore. It works so well, a very rare sleeper, that creeps up on you.

"Stay Here" the original a-side, is a more uncomplicated recording again featuring horns & guitar fusion, stimulated by peppering of piano propulsion. making it two neighborhood Northern Soul strollers with a cult appreciation. For those of you who are stirred by local tiny label creations with a character all of teir own.

Leon Gardner brief recording career and labels ownership, spawned an impressive 11 45s every one considered a Soul collectors rarity.

Igloo 316 being one of his very rarest!
