Ridiculously rare 7" of this 1953 Chicago recorded thumping saxophone, R&B/Jazz boogie swinger.

Saxophonist wizard Leo Parker sadly died very young, at the age of 37 years. But before his sad passing, his prowess with the saxophone, had earned him a highly regarded reputation with the big jazz names of the late 40's early 50's. Playing with the likes of Dexter Gordon, Coleman Hawkins, Dizzy Gillespie, Illinois Jacquet, Fats Navarro, Billy Eckstine, J.J. Johnson etc.

This was his only vinyl offering credited to him and his own band, occasionally turning up on shellac 78 RPM but ridiculously elusive as a 7" 45rpm.

An insanely vibrant Chicago R&B/Jazz instrumental dance session, that showcases this musician's masterly command of his instrument, aggressively hitting a huge range of notes, has he wields that saxophone, inciting dance on every blow of the reed. Take a listen to be shook up by the intensity of this tune..

The flipside portraying the "cool jazz" side of Leo's undoubted abilities

Presented here in a very rare format, the seldom encountered 7" 45rpm.

Condition Report

two clean labels revealing only soft signs of carful storage. Vinyl has visual light surface marks, but as you can hear both side give up only occasional low-fi crackle buried deep and muffled into that insane sax-display.
