Rare 1958 Los Angeles Doo-Wop from a usually one girl (Gwen Johnson) + 4 to 6 guy team, some of whom would move on to become rare-soul names during the 60's.

Lorenzo Manley would later "Swop Down" on us, whilst the talented Johnny Woodson would craft some very rare Soul recordings on his own label "Woodson" and "Pam-O"

On the a-side the group cover local-guy and Eddie Cochran's buddy, Lee Denson's "Climb Love's Mountain" leading with John Jennings rich tenor, the gathering transform Lee Denson ballad into a superior soaring dreamy delight, cradled by silky harmony. A fabulous vocal-group ballad of the highest quality.

In contrast the back-up side is an insane Black-rocker written by Woodson himself; who injects wild percussion, insistent vocals peppering a frantic dance arrangement. Relentless, imposing and unforgettable.

Two strong sides, one very elusive disc, especially in this fine clean condition.

Condition Report

Two clean promo labels, with only mild signs of storage. 61 year old vinyl is beautifully clean and unused, fidelity is top-drawer.
