An insane New York instrumental from Lloyd Price's brother Leo. This disc was turned into a club monster in Pittsburgh, by the fabled DJ "Mad Mike" without question one of the most-influential DJ's the planet has ever witnessed.

"Gumbo" is a spectacular "Tittyshaker" by Leo Price, who Mad Mike had already championed on his 1960 Hull label release "Hey Now Baby"; which was bootlegged in 1965 on "Up Down Records" due to local Pittsburgh demand. This 45 seems to have escaped the honour of being bootlegged and today remains frustratingly elusive.

A driving slab of R&B featuring aggressive plectrum work, blaring brass and an psychotic sax break, utterly ideal for Mike's penchant for whipping up a storm on the dancefloor.

A listing for the MOD/R&B DJ who wants to take the roof off the place - in "Mad Mike" style...

Condition Report

Rarely witnessed with fine clean labels and full gloss vinyl. Only revealing the merest of storage hairlines under direct light. A fine clean copy. Rare condition indeed
