Starting her penchant for Soul music as a young Bradford Modette, Kiki’s exceptional vocal prowess took her all the way to Detroit and a Motown contract, that saw her release, one highly acclaimed album and a couple of strong 45s, as Berry Gordy attempted to cash in on the USA curiosity surrounding the Brit-Girl vocal.

Before you today is Kiki's most-wanted, so very wanted, that in is century it very rarely surfaces for sale. A Northern Soul all-niter anthem that simultaneously rocked all the major clubs of the mid-seventies.

The combination of Kiki's soaring vocal, the writings of Teddy Randazzo and Victoria Pike and the Mike Vickers bombardment of brass inside his kitchen-sink production; makes for perfect Northern Soul dance fuel. Mike Vickers pulls in male vocal "de-dum-dums", penetrating piano notes, hand-claps, erupting horns lifting you up into an out-of-body after midnight experience..

THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL! at it's most-exhilarating, catapulting you back in time, reigniting visions of circle-skirted girls spinning like tops, as this uplifting song elevated those dancefloor ladies into a higher state of euphoria.

“NorthErn Soul Classic” gets nowhere near to describing the 45's status, as euphoric recall triggers good times that can never be repeated. Sung by one-of-our-own directed by one of Britain’s all-the-great producers.

Condition Report

Three prong centre full intact, clean a-side label. "Carpet Ride" label has a tiny sticker removal scar on middle left (see images). Vinyl is beautifully clean, hardly a blemish on the playing surface, plays crisp, clean and full. there is a minuscule edge bump first turn of the run-in affecting nothing but the eye.
