A record we first played by Cleethorpes Pier DJ icon "Poke" covered up as Chris Clark - Touch The Sky -

Kiki started her penchant for Soul music as a young Bradford Modette, a Brit teen who's exceptional vocal prowess took her all the way to Detroit and a Motown contract, that saw her release, one highly acclaimed album and a couple of strong 45s, as Berry Gordy attempted to cash in on the USA curiosity surrounding the Brit artists.

Before you today is Kiki's most-wanted IN IMPOSSIBLE MINT CONDITION, so very wanted, that in this century, it very rarely surfaces for sale and never mint! A Northern Soul all-nighter anthem that simultaneously rocked all the major Soul clubs of the mid-seventies.

The combination of Kiki's soaring vocal, the writings of Teddy Randazzo and Victoria Pike and the Mike Vickers bombardment of brass, wrapped up inside his kitchen-sink production; makes for perfect Northern Soul dance fuel. Mike Vickers pulls in male vocal group "de-dum-dums", penetrating piano notes, hand-claps, erupting horns lifting you up into an out-of-body after midnight NS experience..

Teddy Randazzo first crafted "On A Magic Carpet Ride" with Little Anthony and The Imperials in mind, but was unhappy with the final studio result, shelving the tapes, which even today nobody seems to have heard. So we cannot judge Kiki's aerial version against the original, but the mind certainly cannot resist imagining Little Anthony and his Imperials in full flight with these soaring lyrics.

THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL! at it's most-exhilarating, catapulting you back in time, reigniting visions of circle-skirted girls spinning like tops, as this uplifting song elevated those dancefloor ladies into a higher state of euphoria. Vivid flashbacks to Cleethorpes are always a welcome moment of exhilaration.

As a perfect MINT copy - this listing is a dream!

“Northern Soul Classic” gets nowhere near to describing the 45's status, as euphoric recall triggers good times, that can never be repeated. Sung by one-of-our-own directed by one of Britain’s all-the-great producers.
