Description

Description

It seems fitting ,that an integral part of the Washington D.C. soul music community, and a major contributor to Shrine's output, providing highly honed lyrics and production opinions helping to craft even finer recordings for Eddie Singleton and team. That he should hook up with another Detroit scholar 34 year old Robert "Exus Trek" Bateman former member of The Satintones, writing partner with Brian Holland, and perfect foil for also extremely talented Kenneth St. Lewis.

Here's an intricate unforgettable 1970 Crossover dancer, hidden away on the back of brief Blackpool Mecca spin for Colin Curtis; a heavy-duty funky dancer "Drug Traffic" with Bateman & Lewis lending the opening bars and breaks from The Temptations "Get Ready" a growling Funk stomper that faded away into obscurity. Leaving the far better flipside to flounder in a few of the world's more complete Soul collections - slowly but surely breaking surface over the decades, gaining an enviable underground reputation for real-rarity and unforgettable earworm qualities.

"What's Her Name" is a preserve for the smart Soul jock, as it invariable draws attention from turntable voyeurs, craning their necks for a peak of "what is this? it's great?" reactions. We think it's this total killer has its day!

Listen and prepare to be impressed, but left to wonder why it has taken far too long to reach the "rare soul" masses.

Condition Report

Two clean promo labels, strong gloss vinyl reveals some soft surface blemishes, but none that react with the stylus. Still housed in birth sleeve - another must-own Buddah!
