Description

Description

A fine clean copy of this elusive 1970 UK press. A suoerb take on Diana Ross's "farewell" to the Supremes the same year. Clement Dodd wasted no time in catching the moment with this fabulous interpretation. Dodd instead of girl-group backup, chose to use sister choruses enriched with a distance male vocal, and it works so well. An upbeat vibe runs through the whole song, punctuated with accomplished guitar riffs. The session unfolds into a fabulous version, in fact a better dance record than the sugary original.

Flip it over for the Coxsone studio band "Sound Dimention " to lift you with a killer deconstruction of Sly Stewart's "Everyday People" Leroy Stibbles leading the charge with soaring trumpets, plummeting trombone vibes and relentless simplistic but highly effective percussion. Altogether brilliantly catchy and utterly infectious. It soon carries you away on a wave of optimism. Fabulous instrumental..

In fact two fab sides, in the unusual condition of mint minus.

Condition Report

Superb clean vinyl, revealing only the merest sleeve contact hairlines under direct light. Tiny pen circle on a-side label, is this 45's only flaw (see images)
