Description

Devotees of the real-deal proper classic style Northern Soul classics, will be nodding in agreement acknowledging this UK disc as the 14th October 1966 FIRST PRESS (with "horizontal" artist credit left-hand side rarely surfaces in beautifully clean condition

22 year old Barry White spreading his wings after his music apprenticeship at the legendary Downey Studios, joined up with the skilled Los Angeles studio technicians like Marc Gordon, Ronnie Goree, Bob Keene, Robert Staunton some already marinated with techniques of the Motown sound, which was rubbing off, and starting to feature in Barry White's collaborations.

When it came to Barry's Northern Soul creations this classic is his greatest NS moment. A relentless, sizzling hot soulful stomping Soul decorated with searing group of Sisters squealing out the choruses, split in two by a killer Motown-esque saxophone explosion! Ringing vibraphone adorns the background whilst that contrasting Johnny Wyatt dark-throated snarl attacks the arrangement.

Proper real-deal Northern Soul that started life for the MODS as a Twisted Wheel spin in '66, still considered a sure-fire floor-destroyer 54 year later.

A Northern Soul "Hall Of Famer" in one of its rarest and most-coveted forms, in super-clean condition.

Noting this is certainly NOT the early September 1971 with the "vertical" artist credit left-hand side, repressed to meet the huge demand from DJ's across the British Isles for the previous 5 years.

Condition Report

Two clean labels, 4 prong centre intact, full gloss mint minus vinyl; it is rare to see this NS favorite in such sparkling condition; this copy emerging from a fastidious British collector's hoard, unlikely to have ran the gauntlet of the Northern Soul turntables, thus plays perfect. still housed in wavy-top birth-sleeve.
