Sadly this is the only example of Johnny Sayles exalted Chicago output that was ever issued in Great Britain. EMI unwisely chose to lead with the Gospel inspired Deep Soul ballad, that showcases Johnny Sayles's formidable snarling vocal perfectly but was never going to feed the frenzied search for "Soul Dancers" for the burgeoning allnite club scene that was sweeping the country. "Deep Down In My Heart" was never going to be a radio play either. So EMI's November '66 for the "Soul Supply" release died a painful but swift death. Disappearing into oblivion, deleted within weeks, so it wasn't until the very late 60's early 70's that the British Soul fans was blown away by "I Can't Get Enough" "My Love's A Monster" both absolute monsters of that period.

But all was not lost with Liberty 12042, those Northern Soul investigators soon found the thumping Monk Higgins production "Anything For You" sleeping on the flipside. What a tune!" so typically "Monk" who surrounds that Sayles-snarl with levitating girl-group choruses, blasting-brass, rattling drums, tricky plectrum picking. A fabulous instrumental break, gives Johnny pause to crash back into play, with the level of intimation that has made him an undisputed Northern Soul icon.

"Anything For You" carries all the same rasping Northern Soul qualities as "I Can't Get Enough" & "My Love's A Monster" making it a Johnny Sayles hattrick of superior Chicago Northern Soul.
