"Evil Ways" delivered by the bewitching voice of Johnny Mathis, this elusive 45's reputation and desirability is growing by the day - narcotic Northern Soul that's on the rise.

Clarence Henry’s much loved classic Jazz groove, made cool by Willie Bobo, nailed by Cal Tjader. Elevated by Santana into a magnificent timeless classic.

Covered in 1970 by one of Jazz Music’s most respected vocalists. Produced in New York by the experienced hand of Jack Gold to be included in the Columbia album “The Long And Winding Road” from which the more innovative club DJ’s started to play it from.

What a killer version, one of the greatest black voices of the last century, seamlessly adjusts himself into Funky / Latin rhythms; as the booming drum pulses open up the way for Johnny’s velvet throat to glide into. Classy singing, as Jack Gold inspires a full orchestra backing to support this entrancing Latin/Funk dancer..

Not what we usually expect from Mr. Mathis and that’s presumably why this 45 never sold either side of the Atlantic... acquiring it and DJing it from this elusive 1970 UK CBS is the ultimate way of owning a current dancefloor essential, that mint minus British vinyl giving up the warmth, depth and clarity the USA pressing does not provide.

Serious British Soul 45 collectors will need no encouragement from me want to own this rarely seen unblemished 45. The price can only rise as word spreads.
