The former "Metros" cover-up, a southern California production on Sonny Lester’s Jazz orientated label, that gave Johnny Bartell and his newly formed Soul Masters their start, this 45 being the first of only two releases for the label, before moving back to the East Coast joining Jimmy Curtiss’s Funk/Soul vehicle Perception records.

Talented keyboardist Bartell can be heard stabbing out the punchy dance pulses, and decorating the session with a lazy but highly effective Hammond instrumental pause. The 4 man team, employ a group shrill girls to elevate the background even higher with high-pitched choruses, supporting the rich soulful lead voice. Stunning Northern Soul tune that just stays with you long after its initial lift-off.

But this 45 gives you so much more than just a memorable driving a Northern Soul dancer; check out the dreamy flipside vocal-group masterpiece drenched in Lowrider qualities. Both sides receiving turntable attention from the DJs, some quite some time now; another Northern Soul great that been “flipped”

A record that over the decades has continually grown in popularity and reputation, whilst avoiding the bootleggers with its elusivity, thankfully this dancefloor delight has never been reissued or overplayed. It’s magical drawing power today, as strong as ever. With the bonus of a sumptuous flipside for those lazy Sunday chill-outs.
