Description

Description

Look at those two flawless promo labels, for avid Motown white demo collectors, here's a real prize.

So now take a listen to Jimmy's debut single that launched Berry Gordy's third label. Heavily influenced by the voice and style of Jackie Wilson, Jimmy's vocal is near unrecognizable compared to his mid-60's hits. He really rocks in is 1961 Motor City R&B dance style that JW had made so successful, punctuated by an insistent saxophone and pumping horns. Jimmy rolls out the makings of a future Northern Soul play.

Before you today is a fine clean promo, of Miss Ray (Raynoma Liles Gordy) who asked Jimmy for a few attempts in search of the sound she was seeking for a hit. This is version (H977 her satisfying attempt to mimicking "Jackie W". Jimmy gives up an earthy feel of the Motor City streets. So ideal for the serious Motown, NS/R&B DJ to awaken his set with.

The other side, has a totally different style, as Jimmy hits the high notes on a scorching ballad.

Saturated in Motown history, of the soon to become, Motown "great"
