Description

Description

No matter which side of the Atlantic you go, this is Jerry's most-wanted least seen 45 as a first press original.

A record showcasing the greatest living Soul vocal from the last century, cradled by one of the most superlative Soul vocal harmony groups of all time.

This 1958 Chicago crafted masterpiece was arguably the genesis of Soul music, written by Jerry Butler & Arthur Brooks. Pulling from their various vocal group apprenticeships and Gospel roots, underlining the thin partition between the secular and the divine, exquisitely executed by this immortal gathering. 62 years later still considered the absolute pinnacle of its style.

Listen and weep, at it's enduring magical powers of harmony, but do not overlook the flipside, when Richard Brooks joins Jerry Butler & older brother Arthur Brooks laying out the foundations of The Impressions with a lively R&B dancer displaying all the attributes we will fall in love with over the coming years.

Jerry Butler whilst recognized as a truly gifted all-time-great crooner, he is also one of the ultimate Soul lyricists, when you consider his other writings; especially songs like "I've Been Loving You Too Long” just like "Your Precious Love" that will live on forever.

Before you today is a highly elusive, good looking, very clean British press so far ahead of the British public taste in 1958 it sold nothing. Today, no British Soul 45 collection could ever be complete without it.

The great "Soul" ballad ever released in the UK..

Condition Report

Two clean labels, tri-centre fully intact, vinyl carries good gloss, revealing only minuscule light blemished, a few soft crackle on the whispered intro, is the rare 45's only flaw.
