Description

Description

A well documented, highly respected but very Rare Mississippi Blues, Recorded October 10, 1953 at Diamond Recording Studios, North Farish Street,Jackson, Mississippi.

This master of the harmonica, first 45 from the historical area of Jackson, Miss. both sides written by this iconic Blues man who cut 45's for Okeh, Excello, Rex and into the 60's, in 1965 moving west along highway 20 to join Stanley Lewis's Jewel/Paula/Ronn recording Record where he cut more notable 45s.

This 65 year old session, captures the raw voice of Jerry McCain along with his harmonica prowess. The blend of a snarling voice, accompanied by a hard-blown piercing Harmonica playing is sidewalk Blues at it;s most evocative. Jerry's prowess with his favoured instrument had made him before his death "A Living Legend" of the Blues.

Here is his first 45 that underlines why he is still held in such high esteem..
