An unblemished June 1966 Red & White demo of Jay And The Americans other Northern Soul classic, winking back at you in this recordings rarest most-desirable, most-attractive and of course rarest format.

It is again the intrepid pairing of Jerry Granahan & Arnold Goland two New Yorkers famous for many Latin flavoured Brill Building big-hitters. With an impressive catalogue of beefy Northern Soul productions, particularly winning our hearts with their work for Ray Pollard.

Jerry Granahan & Arnold Goland took over the stewardship from the likes of Garry Sherman, Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller, Artie Ripp etc. to see if they could enhance their career even further. A big ask, as the group had previously started to rack up quite a few hits. But the duo pulled it off brilliantly, with "Livin' Above Your Head" the leading theme and title for a 1965 album. "Livin' Above Your Head" was the groups 5th single release for the five man with their new arranger, producers

Written by group members themselves, David Blatt aka Jay Black (lead singer who had replaced Jay Traynor back in 1964), Kenny Vance, Marty Sanders a persuasive Northern Soul dancer with a decepitive Spanish guitar led spoken intro, that suddenly explodes into a spirit-lifting turbo-charged foot-to-the-floor string fueled avalanche of euphoria.

One of the most potent blue-eyed male harmony productions ever to emerge from a the City drenched in so many multi-cultural musical influences.

"Livin' Above Your Head" listen and your day will be drastically elevated... viewing the label vista has certainly lifted mine.

Condition Report

Two clean demo labels, 4 prong centre intact, glorious unblemished vinyl, strong clean Mint minus still housed in birth-sleeve, a truly gorgeous example.
