One of those few Northern Soul "elusives" that has never been bootlegged, adding to it's kudos over the decades; that has already pushed higher by the fact it does not exist as the easier to acquire PROMO copy.
So the prolific Helen Miller & her writing partner Estelle Levitt beseeching work can only be found as this frustratingly uncommon stock copy.

A long time personal favourite of mine, and many other collectors I imagine. As swirling strings lay down a carpet for Ila Vann to state her resistance against her lovers bullying mind games. Not a subject that often appears in song, but when you give those lyrics to craftsman like, that man Charlie Calello and Gene Redd guided by Helen herself, the end result is dazzling; A truly outstanding song, production and performance.

You don't need me you remind you, that this treasure seldom comes to market, and each time I hear it I think it's a better song than the last time.

What a tune, that is currenty having its day in the Sun after decades of flirting with big-ticket status.

But wait there's more, several A1 DJ's have noted the flipside is perfect fuel for those lazy, Sunday chill-outs when only top-quality tunes are on the turntables. "My Mother Said" the original a-side is just that, another searing female mid-paced statement. Making this 45 a twofer one.. beauty.
