Description

Description

Besides having two top-drawer examples of Rare Soul as James Stokes and Gino Armstrong team up with the Poindexter Twins and craft two stunning slabs of Soul.

A compelling Northern Soul dancer on one side and a riveting Sweet Soul vocal group harmony ballad on the other. This elusive 45 is also hunted worldwide because the then unknown James Marshall (Jimi Hendrix) was performing on the session. Taken into the studio by the arranger Lonnie Youngblood who also collaborated with Jimi on his Fairmount 45 releases.

No outrageous guitar solos, quite the opposite, but you can certainly hear Jimi's signature guitar attacks on the intro of the hard-hitting sledgehammer Northern Soul dancer. Throughout the 2:25 seconds he supports an equally reactionary Saxophonist... With Stokes & Armstrong in a combative mood, Sam & Dave style the pairing slashes out dance-soul with attitude.. at last this intrusive tune is getting some long-overdue Northern Soul action.. and it rising fast up the in-demand ratings.. time secure this 45 is now, before it becomes really hot!

Flip it over for a contrasting, silky smooth harmony ballad; saturated in Soulful admiration for a girl.. a mid-tempo stroller perfect for that Sunday afternoon chill-out. Hendrix is not evident on this song as things are kept mellow and emotional..

Love both sides, with the Hendrix devotees draw to it's frustrating rarity.. expect competition on this one.
