Description

Detroit Northern Soul at it’s most compelling, whichever side you drop the needle on. Double-header "value for money" Detroit rarities that doesn't come to market very often, or come much better than this double-dance-delight.

Soaring horns, jingling vibes, rhythmic Jack Ashford drumming is the platform for a full of regret, imploring vocal. An on-his-knees, hands on his heart plea for another chance. Convincing, moving and utterly gut-wrenching as you feel for his irreparable mistake. His plausibly in pain lone vocal, which Tony Hester the producer sees no reason, for the other Holidays to join in. A truly remarkable solo performance of real soul woven into a inspiring Motor City Northern Soul dance landscape, that simply takes your breath away...easily one of my all time favourite Detroit recordings..

Flip it over "Easy Living" is drenched in optimism, as a buoyant Steve Mancha inspires hope and expectation for a better futuire; with his teammates coating the proceedings with affirming harmony choruses, welling up in the background. This session also, just seamlessly glides from one high to another...Two great sides!

Detroit was the provider of many, many unforgettable 45's, just a few had the luxury of giving up not one but two killer tunes on one disc.. I consider this Groove City outing as one of the very greatest double-hitters of all time..

So Good, bidders-regret may well haunt also-rans in the race to own this beauty

Condition Report

Two clean labels, the vinyl seen the life, revealing numerous light surface hairlines, on the a-side, but plays superb! the equally enthralling flip has met a similar fate of sleeveless exposure, it too has numerous light surface hairlines is also only vg+. But it is easy to forgive these imperfections, as Detroit Soul fills up your senses with the epitome of Motor City vocal group excellence. Awesome x 2.
