Description

For lover's of very elusive Northern Soul Crossover check out this Wichita, Kansas creation. Potential is huge for the discerning DJ with an ear for quality and a eye for genuine rarity, that carries with it a pedigree from both Wichita & Kansas.

A recording benefitting from the rasping vocal of Cornelius Neal already a seasoned singer from his days on the Los Angeles circuit mostly under the name "Baby Neal" and of course his billing and recording experiences with the Smart Brothers famed for their SOLO label exploits. Well here they are again as "Hard Road" both sides written by Geno Blue a Wichita Soul man of repute.

Here is another winner with similar rarity pedigree from those street level guys who have given up some real killers.

We lead with "Dedicated To You" with an intro that reminds me of Patrinell Staten, then the male vocal glides into the subtle blending of rattling percussion, swirling Hammond, swift picking guitar riff unfolding into a flowing mid-paced Soulful Crossover delight. Cleverly peppered with timely Funky riffs and sweet girls harmony choruses. Possibilities of the big-ticket dripping from the grooves. Classy neighbourhood dance groove.

Flip it over, Geno Blues team get down and Funky. With a Q&A session of verbal-volleyball, over driving funk rhythms. Those songbirds again deliver a shrill backdrop for that contrasting snarling vocal to attack, as he sends out his demands..Wah Wah drives the Funk pulses, a girl voice answers her man telling him exactly what she want.. Tune!

Condition Report

Two clean labels, just light speckling bottom right, otherwise clean. Vinyl reveals light surface marks, but as you can hear it plays excellently.
