A year before the "Disco" explosion started to sweep America, Barry White, Tom Brock & Gene Page collaborated to craft one of the greatest 70's Soul albums ever made. Former Sly Stone pupil and Ike & Tina Turner backing singer, Gloria Scott was the perfect voice for this magnificent journey into sumptuous-Sister-Soul.

(A Case Of) Too Much Lovemakin' was of course a Richard Searling anthem throughout the last decades of the 20th Century, a crowd-pleaser with few equals. But this album is no "one track wonder”. For me and many other fans, "That's What You Say (Everytime You Are Near Me)” is every note as magnificent. Both tracks never achieving 45 release in the USA. Whilst the equally inspiring "What Am I Gonna Do" did get 45 issue, and is now considered a crucial 70's Soul collectors item.

An album that we consider in the top five Soul masterpieces of all time. Lack of awareness, promotion and radio exposure all contributed to this LP's failure to sell, but left the record collector with a real jewel of a rarity to acquire. If original first presses are your priority .

This is an album of such great esteem, it has won Gloria Scott cult status, worldwide fame and universal appreciation. So much so she is now a resident act at Europe’s greatest Soul Weekender, Dan Dombrowe's Baltic Soul, of Hamburg, Germany, where this charismatic lady now wows the crowd every year.

EWe have soundfiled 1.(A Case Of) Too Much Lovemakin 2. "That's What You Say (Everytime You Are Near Me)” 3. What Am I Gonna Do for instant impact. But the other tracks are also killer examples of pre-disco Sister Soul.

Condition Report

A fabulous clean cover, revealing only very soft signs of storage, it is a cover that so often suffers from ring wear. NO seam splits, sticker marks or writing. Strong clean Ex + cover. Two perfect labels, full gloss vinyl we can locate only a couple of fine hairlines. Plays flawless. This is certainly the finest copy I've seen in decades. A real beauty.
