Description

A bargain awaits for NS DJs, here's chance to buy huge dancefloor destroyer for a fraction of its value, this copy has a tight hairline crack NOT affecting play whatsoever, so fine and tight we didn't realise it had any flaws until we went to clean it. Chance to own a floorpacker for a snip! LISTEN HOW CLEAN it plays.

This New Orleans Jazz troop, lead by Gentleman June Gardner, incorporates some very familiar names to the Northern Soul scene. George Davis on guitar, Walter Booker on bass, Gentleman June Gardner on drums, with the greatest New Orleans Northern Soul contributor Wardell Quezergue at the helm of this jazzy stomping outpouring. The gang intelligently rework Sonny & Cher's all but forgotten flipside to "I Got You Babe" transforming "It's Gonna Rain" into a momentous bombardment of horns, cascading over pulsating percussion provided by Gentleman June himself; whilst a scything saxophone pumps out shrill aerial notes, then switching to burping prompts decorated by relentless piano notes.

The whole thing welds together into a killer instrumental jam, peppered with enthusiastic vocals whoops and shouts. A Northern Soul delight that has been packing the floors the UK, its throbbing presence beckoning you to the dancefloor. A guaranteed floor-filler of immense popularity... as its infectious qualities are impossible to ignore.

Records like this are one of reasons the Northern Soul sound is impossible to define, but at the same time making Northern Soul's endless boundaries and unpredictability one of the strengths that keep this scene eternally vibrant...

So very cool, so very addictive, everybody loves this New Orleans march to the Northern Soul drum ...

Condition Report

Two clean promo labels (see images), full gloss, plays perfect, mint minus vinyl not even the softest murmur from the totally silent hairline LISTEN. The b-side has neatly applied cello-tape. so "Last Night" doesn't play.
