It's been almost 10 years since we listed this stunningly rare and totally raw, horn propelled 1965 D.I.Y Northern Soul groove from the desk of the young and ambitious Gene Anderson.

Since then it has been championed by some of the up and coming younger Northern Soul DJs who are earning the well deserved respect and admiration by thinking "outside he box" sweeping up some of the genuinely rare "sleepers" to enhance their freshly inspired sets.

Gene himself was was a young teenage hopeful who benefitted from performing and recording with the local "Ike & Tina Turner Review" taking note how to build an imposing recording, taking it forward into his own label recordings on Royal-Tone / Nu-Tone traveling over 750 miles across several states from South Carolinas to St. Louis Missouri promoting his work and vinyl releases.

You are about to hear two irrepressible performances, from this exuberant St. Louis showman. Gene layers these two sessions with a raft of hard-blown but beautifully "undercooked" horns, muscular bass guitar pulses carrying his gently rasping vocal from one height to the next. Fabulous Northern Soul with that distinguishing naïve neighborhood recording atmosphere, all the serious Northern Soul fans are so drawn to.

A self financed project of high-quality Soul, on his own label Nu-Tone imprint. So hard to acquire in this near perfect mint minus state of archive preservation. Unbeatable condition, you can clearly hear every gravelly impassioned note as he asks his girl's love to be validated, in total clarity. A classy basement saxophone break rubberstamps this rarity's D.I.Y. class...

That's why "Young Gun" Charles Simpson - spun it at Rugby, Simon Ingham - at Keele, with Jordan Wilson also in the chase to adorn his highly imaginative celebrated sets with this 45s edgy charm. .

To top that, the king of the rare soul ballads on Youtube Steve Edgar's in his worldwide revered "Soulhawk" channel. Rates the flipside as a "Deep Soul" masterpiece!

Two killer sides of real-deal soul on one super-elusive disc.
