An exceptionally clean copy.

Hidden away on the flipside of Deep Soul treasure, "Looking For You" emerged to become Garnet's most treasured recording by the Northern Soul family.
With "Cry Baby" being Garnet's biggest success to date Jerry Ragovoy again opted for the Big City ballad to bring him another hit. Unfortunately it missed out both sides of the Atlantic, with disappointing sales.
Except, for those MOD vinyl detectorists trawling the Record Stores and market stalls searching for the next Soul Club spin... Wow, did someone strike "gold" when the stylus was first dropped on "Looking For You". The Soul Boy debutante who first heard that bass-line opening, must have froze with anticipation as Garry Sherman's mighty arrangement unwound with a flurry of crashing piano notes, collide with ring ringing vibes and a aerial bombardment of brass. Garry Sherman was a conductor who cut no corners, spared no expense to achieve his desired level of power... Jerry Ragovoy and Garry "I Can't Help Loving You" Sherman, masters of the N.Y. Big City sound.

As he did with Paul Anka's "I Can't Help Loving You" and 100's of other huge Brill Building sounds, Garry Sherman layers instrument upon instrument, in precise but persuasive order until a volcano of sound erupts, big enough to compliment the power of Garnet's voice.

This is what can happen, when accomplished recording studio forces come together. Jerry Ragovoy, Garry Sherman and Garnet Mimms; a determined threesome pursuing perfection. Even though this recording is only a flipside, pride in their work demanded it had to be BIG, POWERFUL and IMPOSING! they certainly deliver that and more..

A deep-rooted Northern Soul anthem embedded in our psyche... proper Northern Soul that nobody could ever tire of hearing!

You can also listen to the official a-side, it soon becomes clear that these three doyens of the studio could produce a killer Beat Ballad or an exciting upbeat dance tune... which ever inclination they decided took their fancy..
